The Secret Santa Project: Holiday Dinner Items

We love and try very hard to provide each family with a Holiday Meal for Christmas.

 Here are items we can use to provide one: 

Ham or Turkeys, or gift cards for such

Canned Veggies ( green beans, corn, carrots,yams,potatoes)

Canned Fruit ( pineapple,peaches, oranges,pumpkin)

Mayo, Peanut butter, jelly, spicy mustard

Flour, sugar, brown sugar,carnation milk, pie fillings, cake mixes, icings,etc. 

small bags of walnuts or pecans

Bisquick or other instant bread mixes,jiffy pie crust mix or biscuit mix

Instant Mac N Cheese, potatoes, stove top,rice

boxes of Hot chocolate or apple cidar mix

Large Family Tea bags

Sugar Cookie Mix with holiday cookie cutters

Gingerbread house kits

Christmas Candy ( candy canes, chocolate santas)

Fresh oranges and apples ( not till close to pick up date)

gallon size ziplock baggies to split sugar, flour,etc between families

We can always uses reusable shopping bags, wrapping paper, ribbon, and stockings.

We all know the parents wish for Christmas for there children, something we do a little different with The Wishing Tree is we ask the parents for one wish too.. Here are some things they have wished for or just some ideas we can give to ones who didn't make a wish:

The Secret Santa Project Applications

Applications for The Secret Santa Project will be taken via email November 2 through December 2 to the-wishing-star-tn@hotmail.com ( DO NOT SEND BEFORE 11/2/12)

 And in person at The Crazy Cupcake from 12 to 2:30 on November 8,15, and 29th.

If you are a senior citizen or have no children. Please omit the children section.

And write you only need a meal.

Have you applied for Christmas ( Angel Tree/good sam) assistance elsewhere?

Please provide a short statement on how The Wishing Star could make your Holidays brighter ( the story  ( not your info or names) will  be shared via facebook, and other media).

What county do you live in? ( We ask that you reside in The Tri-Cities TN/VA area (Greene, Hawkins, Sullivan, Washington, Johnson, carter, Unicoi counties etc.)

Are you able to travel to The Crazy Cupcake in Jonesborough  to pick up your gifts and dinner? You will be responsible for picking it up. We will not have deliveries for Christmas. 

No shows will not be allowed to apply for further assistance.

If you submit via email and not in person you be asked to provide ID & proof of your children are your children,  when picking up your gifts. ( Your recent DHS award letter is enough if you have one)

If you come in person please know the above info, and bring in your id, proof of income/bills, and identification of your children. If you have a DHS award  letter, that is all you need. We do not turn someone away for gross income. If you feel the need you need assistance, we are here to listen. We work completely on donations, so we always strive to provide for every family. But we can't guarantee that.
